How a piece comes to life

The pipeline

Each design starts from a sketch, then I start working on the design with a 3D sculpting tool. As I do not use CAD (which is the software used throughout the jewellery industry) I use modelling tools akin to the movie industry, it is then prototyped in wax to ensure the intricacies of the design translate. The piece is then rigorously checked to ensure it is both wearable and comfortable.

Since the 80's

History

Jewellery design has changed in the last few years with the introduction of 3d printing, creating new frontiers for design however it still has its restraints. You could be the world’s greatest 3d designer but do you have the knowledge of a goldsmith?
You could even be the most sort after goldsmith but do you have a knowledge of 3d art?
In most cases, the answer is no.
This is where Guzzardi is different.
Giuseppe Guzzardi has experience of both 11 years as a goldsmith in Rome from the late 80’s and, the last 23 years in the wonderful world of visual effects, please visit: www.giuseppeguzzardi.com.

Fusion of two worlds...

This fusion allows us to create pieces beyond the imagination with any metal and any stone be it Gem or Precious.

The aim of Guzzardi is to put the art back into jewels, allowing its wearer to stand out from the crowd. Whether you choose from the collection or choose to go bespoke

Same idea - years apart...

I designed Francy’s Flower back in the 90’s – Now working with digital tools you can see the difference in the precision and detailing – there is charm in both however the limitations of the 90’s are over and as a designer and goldsmith this advance is incredibly exciting…..

Giuseppe Guzzardi, Bio, carefully, this is the long version!

1966 - The beginning. Siracuse, Sicily...

My father gave me a rubber dingy I was already the Captain of a pirate’s ship…… at the beach of Fontane Bianche, with my family.

After a move to the mainland around the age of seven we briefly moved to Milan before finally settling in Rome

After finishing school, a friend noticed my obsession with design, (I always had a notebook where I sketched at any moment I could) he invited me to work with him in his workshop and thus I began my goldsmith apprenticeship.

2000 - The digital era...

Sadly, the economic crisis that hit around 2000, meant the jewellery market went into decline.
I looked for new opportunities and found 3D modelling, not only was its exciting learning a new skill, but also challenging as everything was written in English!

I became a 3D modeler in the movie industry. Although I enjoyed it something was missing and with the rise of 3D printing I wanted to explore the possibilities. And soon realised a way I could do this was to combine my skills as a goldsmith and a 3D modeller

2016 - making it a reality

I realized that I could finally tourn both my passions in an unic possibility and I started to explore, love and finally move to the idea of Guzzardi Jewellery.

That was in 2016 when I definitly decided after a long and difficoult decision to move to London.

I decided to move after the end of my teachings at the Quasar, a professional designers scool in Rome where I was director of the visual effects courses.

2022 - Guzzardi now is on-line...

Start a new company in my 50’s, new country, new lenguage, well let’s say that is a big thing to do but, I was very deterimined.
So I went back to Italy to buy my old workshop itself, the one I had back in the 80’s from the same owner I sold it and I moved it in my brend new garden cabin.
And all  the jewellery pieces came from this tiny workshop.

I did all by myself non only the jewellery designs but also everithing that iincludes also the building of the entire cabin wher the workshop stand at this very moment even if it is become now too small and we are going to move soo

2023 - Big things have small begininngs...

I liked very much to include this picture becuse in all the most famous compamy like Microsoft, or Apple, they all show prowdly how they started. Moost of this colossal company now are in mega structures but all of them started in their garages or in a shed in their garden and it looks to be a very good sign of fortune that we definately share. Here is where I started to produce my first prototype and here is where all my prorotypes are made at the moment.
